The One Single Impression prompt, assimilation, this week comes from Gautami, at Rooted. My tanka is about a friend who tried so hard, for so long.

Beautiful. I am contemplating that fuzzy line.
Potent verse — really conjures up a strong image and feelings. Even when voluntary assimilation can be damaging.
Hi Sandy–
The connection between assimilation and balance was interesting. Lovely poem and image, as always!
Love to you–thanks for your comment on my post.
A great balance in this. Excellent.
This is very poignant, Sandy and grips my heart. What a marvelous image. I think I am your biggest photo fan.
A vista of emotions conveyed in a mere few lines.. I’m intrigued by the fuzzy line between the past and present!
Wonderful forced metaphoric reference to the prompt without even stating it. Amazing work.

understated yet effective. Loved it..

Absolutely beautiful…I loved it
Incredibly fine – as always. You have such talent for words and image.
Hi Sandy, I like it! If that fuzzy line is between old enough and too old, then I too seem to be faltering once in a while.
Having your ‘friend’ recover herself is encouraging.
You do know we all stumble once in a while? My dad (now deceased) told me once, “Jim, you know everybody falls once in a while?” He was telling me this after he had fallen and hurt himself just a little bit.

Oh yes, that is a good pictures of those suspended
Hi Sandy, I like it! Oh yes, that is a good pictures of those suspended particles.
My first comment wasn’t finished but it posted without my permission anyway.

The past can be consuming…and there is no clear demarcation. Just a gentle righting into the flow of now. Delicate and heartfelt!
my sense is that this is a common dance for many of us; the fuzzy line between past and present, nicely said!
This is a wonderful poem. I read it three times to savor it. One of my favorites from this prompt response.
Your blog is beautiful to look at and to read. I will be back.
Thanks for visiting “Keepsakes”.

Nicely done- very thought provoking and so true. I have found that has happened a few times to me lately.
