Jade, I was actually taking a photo of a nuthatch below this scene. I didn’t see the chickadee until I looked at the photo on my computer screen, and of course it was not in great focus.
Never fear, I stuck in PSE, using both the watercolor filter and a texture.
I wonder how often I miss camouflaged birds and animals?
Sandy, this is such a good picture, and accompanying poetry.
This little chickadee is camouflaged really well.
I worry sometimes about these these small birds in the winter storms, but they do seem to know how to survive.
I’m glad he has found shelter in this maple.
BTW, I did look up Juncos, and they are indeed delightul little creatures.

I have read that small birds wait the storms in hollow trees, packed all together to stay warm. The only birds that I see in a really bad storm are woodpeckers and crows.
Love the effect, Sandy. It’s so lovely. I can never get a decent shot of the chickadee – they move so quickly. It’s amazing what nature stands up to, isn’t it?
Endurance, especially when witnessed in nature, is inspiring.
Did you paint this? It is beautiful. So are the accompanying words.

This photo really is excellent, and I like the Haiku too!
Thank you, Robert.
I like to salvage a shot when I can.
I like the way you have photo shoppped this photo, Sandy. It looks just like a water colour painting. Lovely words too…
Thank you, Frank. Can you believe I almost missed this little guy?
Love what you did with the photo, Sandy.
And wonderful haiku.
Margie, this was one of the good makeovers. You just can never tell until you experiment.

Gosh – he really is well camouflaged! I love the treatment you’ve given this image, and I really enjoyed your haiku.
Thanks! This wasn’t the first time I have found birds in a photo that I wasn’t aiming at.
I love the feel of both the photo and the accompanying words. Chickadees are among my favorite birds.
Mine, too! If there was such a thing as a teddy bear bird, this would be it.

Talon, I sing to them, if I am near a feeder tree. Even down in the woods, they will come and see what I am doing when I am shooting photos.
Nice effect you gave to the photo!
It did work well on this one. Bark always watercolors nicely, I think it helped that the colors was nearly all the same, too.
Love it.
This was a very nice surprise for me.
The watercolor makes an a bokeh effect that I like along with the bark of the tree.
I like the almost granite-like earthtones. No one can paint like Mother Nature.
what a beautiful photo, it looks perfect with that effect. It is so easy to miss the camoflaged birds, isn’t it?

Doesn’t it make you wonder how much we miss?
I love the poem and the poetry.
and the art.
Hidden from the ravages of the storm. You bring his beauty out nicely!
Endurance and beauty! Gorgeous.
I love the photo effect! I need to play with PSE more! And Chickadees are just a fave of mine! Great post!
I really like this post. What a beautiful photograph. Your prose throughout your blog is beautiful; short and sweet.

love this image!
Lovely! Nice photoshop work on an excellent image.
It was the small version of PS (elements) and then a run through the canvas filter in GIMP.
Thanks for stopping in!
I keep hearing about GIMP. Maybe I should look into it.
